Nancy, I am so sorry. Alex had a great life thanks to you. Take comfort in that. That sentiment is a treasure and so true.

If you all will indulge me, I'd like to tell you a bit about my avatar: Alex. As many of you know, I own and have bred champion show dogs, who I sledded with, backpack, herded etc. But, I also have been very active in rescue, taking in Samoyeds who have been abandoned, etc. I have had over 60 Samoyeds thru my home, rescuing those in bad circumstances, working with them, and placing them in homes. I rescued Alex in 2001 from death row in a shelter in Cleveland; he was a stray walking the streets. I can't tell you why but I never found a home for him, maybe he had just decided he found the home he wanted. Since he wasn't eligible for conformation shows, we participated in agility. I also took him to rescue events to show what great dogs are available thru rescue. I used the avatar picture on the webpage and titled it: On the Outside Looking In No More. (Actually, he had jumped up on a picnic table on my deck and I snapped the picture). At the time, the shelter estimated him at 5 yrs old, I estimated him at 1 1/2 yrs. No matter how you do the math, Alex is an old boy who gets carried more than he walks. He prefers to be plopped in the living room, in front of a fan, no matter the weather. But he is still a very sweet, and often humorous, boy. Alex left me yesterday to cross the Rainbow Bridge and play again with his buddies who went before, especially Hailey and Rory who were his best buds. I miss him! Nancy, so sorry about your special guy, Alex. I know he'll always be missed. Thanks for sharing and letting us know he's with his buddies.

I see Miranda has had to cancel for some vocal chord issues: theboot.com/miranda-lambert-2015-calgary-stampede-canceled-vocal-cord-problems/One of the guys from Little Big Town apparently is having surgery for something similar. LBT is scheduled to perform at our local fair on Aug 6th; that is the first week following cancellations; I wonder if they will be able to appear (tickets still being sold)

I've been a big fan since I first saw them on "Can You Duet". The title says they are Positive & Hopeful but the article indicates a rough road ahead. Joey always reminded me of my sister Sandy who died from cancer when she was 40. I didn't see anything from Jennings' daughter-in-law (was it an on-line story?). I follow Ben Haggard on twitter and he was none too happy but seemed to get over it. Of course, it's one thing if the person talked about is still alive but people tend to get more upset if the person is dead and can't talk for themselves.
