If you all will indulge me, I'd like to tell you a bit about my avatar: Alex.
As many of you know, I own and have bred champion show dogs, who I sledded with, backpack, herded etc.
But, I also have been very active in rescue, taking in Samoyeds who have been abandoned, etc. I have had over 60 Samoyeds thru my home, rescuing those in bad circumstances, working with them, and placing them in homes. I rescued Alex in 2001 from death row in a shelter in Cleveland; he was a stray walking the streets.
I can't tell you why but I never found a home for him, maybe he had just decided he found the home he wanted. Since he wasn't eligible for conformation shows, we participated in agility. I also took him to rescue events to show what great dogs are available thru rescue. I used the avatar picture on the webpage and titled it: On the Outside Looking In No More. (Actually, he had jumped up on a picnic table on my deck and I snapped the picture).
At the time, the shelter estimated him at 5 yrs old, I estimated him at 1 1/2 yrs. No matter how you do the math, Alex is an old boy who gets carried more than he walks. He prefers to be plopped in the living room, in front of a fan, no matter the weather. But he is still a very sweet, and often humorous, boy.

Awww, what a nice story, and what a great photo that describes his story. Alex was just meant to be your boy.

Alex deserves to be carried I'm sure. What a great, heartwarming story. My niece just rescued a pup who is part pit bull...and unfortunately, I suspect that was reason he had trouble finding a home....preconceived ideas about all pit bulls.

What a wonderful story. We have rescued 4 dogs now and they seem to appreciate you so much, as if they know what you did. Just last Aug, we rescued a pit mix pup (11 weeks at the time) and Toby is such a loving boy and I'm glad he is ours, even when he chews a book (like he did today)!

This is off topic, for sure. This is a response to the "don't play women back to back on radio" interview. www.countryuniverse.net/Wow...so many fantastic females in that video.

That's just sad. Is it an economic thing. I don't know if it's true, but I have heard that women buy most of the music, and they prefer male voices. Is is money? You listen to all those outstanding women, and it hits you hard how unfair this is.
