Recap/review of the show at the Molson.
Venue: really more of an open venue than a combination. The sides are not totally enclosed...and the roof only covers a small portion of the seats. Good acoustics and well maintained.
As both of us have mentioned, we had a chance to chat with Nathan outside the venue prior to the show. We were waiting for the gates to open...nervously....because Carol (Can) had that m&g. She had to be in line by 6:45 pm
Lutecia - no problem with the ticket at all. Sat in the 2nd section of the floor area (row E), dead center. There was a 1st section, then the pit area in front of me. Thanks so much once again.
Show started at around 7:35pm. RaeLynn, unfortunately, had a lot of empty seats in front of her. She still was energetic and positive. Got to give her credit.
Scotty started at around 8:08 or so. I sort of timed his performance at 41 minutes. He had a lot more fannies in the seats than RaeLynn....and a lot more than he had in Camden. However, RF fans apparently love to be fashionably late. The people near me who were there for RaeLynn and Scotty were not the normal RF fans, thank heavens.
He knocked himself out -- as usual. The crowd was enthusiastic and vocal. Carol and I both thought he left out a song or two...but maybe it's just that he changed up the set list to confuse us! haha.gif I'd say he impressed a lot of folks who'd never seen him before...judging from the reactions during and at the end of his performance.
I sat there wondering what the RF fans would think after watching Scotty go full throttle, cover the stage, chat with the audience etc....comparing that kind of dynamic performance with the RF method of just one song after another. Judging by the people around me...I think a lot of the RF don't care that much about style of concert...they just want to sing along. But...I think quite a few RF fans probably wish their fav group would loosen up a little after seeing Scotty.
We left early...it had been a long day for both of us...and we suspected getting a taxi out if we waited until the very end would be a real challenge. Also, RF started their part of the concert late: close to 9:30 pm.
Toronto has grown up (literally) since my last visit. I always thought of it as just 8-10 years since that stay...then I realized it was more like 15+ years. Sooo many new skyscrapers (condos and office builings), and it's spread out considerably. Having the street events (buskers, mini-stage shows, bands, etc.) really made it a lot of fun.
