Last night's show was great -- Scotty's set the highlight, of course! (A couple of his videos did not work...Mike said he noticed there was some flickering at one point right before he moved out of the sound booth. By the time he got to where we were sitting the videos stopped, then restarted for good. Minor glitch.)
RaeLynn - most of her songs were rock/pop not country. Unfortunately, a lot of seats were still empty in the covered area when she was performing. Felt bad for her. Could not understand most of her lyrics...part of the problem being the bass was way too loud.
Crowd was into Scotty from the minute the band started...many on their feet, waving their arms, etc. I'd say about 80% of the audience was in their seats when he began, then got up to about 90% at the end of his set. Something new for me: he kind of made a medley out of ILYTB (which I thought he had dropped from his RIOT set) and TTWG. Did not sing the full songs, and segued from ILYTB to TTWG. And they were the two songs where the videos were not working. I'm wondering if the problem was really that they had they had edited the two vids for the medley situation...but couldn't adjust in time. Just a thought.
Whiplash and SB were both audience favorites. He is just growing into SB to the point where he grabs the audience immediately -- and they are loving it start to finish.
RF sounded fine...and I think they are trying to do a little more of that crowd-interaction some of the reviewers complained they lacked. Still don't talk much on stage...but last night Jay D did add some chatter about NJ (about 2 minutes), and they did actually introduce (briefly) a couple of their songs. Their fans certainly sing along -- and get up on their feet.
Venue is not the best...primary problems: parking and the lawn section (can't really see from there, according to fans I overheard). Oh, and it's so dang hard to get into/out of that place.
To be honest, I left about 10-15 minutes before RF finished. My last visit to Susq. Bank Center did not end well....2 hours on the lot, streets blocked in Camden, and lost for quite awhile. This time, while the streets were still blocked, with far fewer cars pouring out onto those streets, it wasn't nearly as bad. Plus, I had GPS this time to lead me through the maze of streets.
I'll be seing the show again in Toronto...so maybe I'll be able to stay for the entire concert.
