m.stltoday.com/entertainment/music/reviews/article_c49a208c-f5da-5343-b5a1-fc781586cabf.html?mobile_touch=truegreat review.........".30 minutes and give us more McCreery time"....WOW
One definite high point was opening act Scotty McCreery, he of "American Idol" 2011 fame who has come into his own as a solid country singer.
For being just 21, McCreery has stage presence a-plenty and a decent catalog of hits like "Feelin' It" and "See You Tonight" and "The Trouble with Girls."
But he won over any of the skeptics in the crowd with a heartfelt medley of country classics "King of the Road," by Roger Miller; "Mama Tried" by Merle Haggard, "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash, "Chattahoochee" by Alan Jackson and "Mountain Music" by Alabama.
This, from a kid whose peers grew up listening to NSync and the like.
Only gripe? At 30 minutes, his set felt short for an opening act when they often go for 45 or 50 minutes. Give us more McCreery next time.

30 minutes? WOW! He got 20 minutes with Brad as a true opener with no experience and 1 album. Come on Rascal Flatts.

That's exactly what I thought when I heard that. yeah, openers usually get 25 mins, special guests (middle act) more like 45-50. Seems odd. Or maybe he was so good, the time flew and it really was longer -

I'm still steaming over that ....30 minutes. It seemed very short. Now, in fairness, maybe because of the unstable weather...RF may have asked RaeLynn and Scotty to trim their acts just for the night so that all three performers could finish before any heavy rain came. Outdoor venues often have strict rules about finishing a show by a certain time...and even stricter ones when it comes to possible bad weather.

The weather in MO was inclement yesterday. I have a friend who lives there, and she told me that there were two bad thunderstorms that day, and a lot of rain the entire day off and on, and she's about 30 minutes from the concert. Last night the radar looked really bad. I hope that is what it was.

Outdoor venues often have strict rules about finishing a show by a certain time...and even stricter ones when it comes to possible bad weather. As I've mentioned before, they absolutely do and, if you go over, you (in this case RF) has to pay bigtime as the employees have to stay late and get paid overtime. But, that said, most acts do allow time for a 20-25 min opener, 45-50 minute middle act and then 1.5 to 2 hrs for headliner. In this case, weather may have been a concern.

Tonight's venue is also an outdoor one, I believe. Weather for Indy: from 3 pm on, scattered thunderstorms. Looks like the conditions that prevailed last night, will be repeated to night...weather-wise.

Hope the 30 minutes was weather related...never thought of it that way. Holding out hope he will get a 45 minute set during the remaining tour. Looking forward to reading all about tonight's concert. Thank you to everyone who is working hard on this site!
