When he started the SYT era we had "Rock This Night" "Suntan" and "SYT" and 2 of the 3 didn't make the main album and 1 of those that didn't was just a Walmart bonus track. So it's too early to know what will happen with "Whiplash." I look at it like this. If "Whiplash" is THIS good just think of how great the ones are that's coming we haven't heard!Exactly!

I'm not so sure Whiplash will be his first single release from his new album I like the song a bunch but would like to see a ballad with some deep lyrics behind it . I know I'll be happy with whatever a scotty pics . I just want the nay sayers put in their places and see there is real substance to Scotty's music . Just my thoughts

Just my thoughts Anne I say there is no way Scotty's label would have given approval for him to perform his new single just yet live in concert. I think Whiplash is kind of like Suntan was...a great concert song that might make the final cut for the album, but probably will never be a single release. I actually would prefer to see another mid tempo song (similar to SYT) as the lead single from the new record. Surely we will all find out by the end of July LOL? But the way UMG Mercury is known to push out dates for their non A listers like Scotty, even that is suspect to continual change.

Any single he releases IMOP has to surpass FTFY big time ..and thats a challenge as of now ! UMG made the descision not to release FTFY possibly based on a future song being much better.....unfortunately Whiplash doesn't fit into that category for me.
Whiplash is a great concert song with a catchy chorus etc but its not allowing him to show off those amazing vocals or putting on a performance of emotions etc that FTFY allowed him to do.Whiplash outshines many that is repetitive on radio today but would it be a #1,I don't think so at this stage of Scottys career. It's fun for the concert crowd and the band to have fun with.
Had he had #1's prior to this being released I would give it a better chance of being #1......
I also agree with Craig the label would not allow him to sing a potential single first out of the gate at a concert. That potential song will come at a later date I think.....lets make it sooner rather than later.

Most labels don't release singles based on the idea that a future single might be better from what I have read. Most time the decision is based on how much more album sales it will generate. SYT the album did not gain from FI and I believe the decision was made to move on to the next era since sales of the album had topped. This is pretty much what they have done with their other artist, after 2 singles if the album is stalled they move on. I had hoped we would get ftfy but with the long time it took for SYT and FI it complicated it more. Also, I think SYT was introduced to the public pretty much the same time Suntan and Rock This Night. We had video of all 3 songs within just a week or 2. At this point I hope for the song that will catch fire at radio for his lead single to generate sales, if that is a fun upbeat concert song I'm fine with that and the great ballad can come next. What I don't want is a song that the label, has to fight tooth and nail to get played. The chart is extremely crowded and I see good artist struggling to move.

Didn't think so! CityFest draws near-record crowd www.alabasterreporter.com/2015/06/08/cityfest-draws-near-record-crowd/
“We had a great crowd all day,” Moseley said on June 7. “It was one of the largest crowds we have ever had.”
Moseley attributed much of the evening crowd numbers to the event’s headliner, 2011 American Idol winner Scotty McCreery. He is well-known for songs such as “The Trouble with Girls,” “See you Tonight” and “I Love you this Big,” and wowed spectators during the show by performing many of his hit songs. . .
“I think Scotty McCreery put on an incredible show and this year will be hard to top. But, we will start next week to do just that,” Moseley said. - See more at: www.alabasterreporter.com/2015/06/08/cityfest-draws-near-record-crowd/#sthash.cvu8Nzzq.dpuf

I like the song and it is really cute and catchy but I want "something more" for Scotty.

I'm always baffled by radio .I noticed Kelsie Bellarini a 19 year old first song to radio is probably going to hit number 1 no struggle at all . Happy for her but it seems not fair to Scotty or Kelly Pickler. I guess they are getting some pressure for women on the charts . It doesn't seem like a song that should get number 1.

That is, by far, the best audio I've heard I'm surprised that microphone didn't take a spill on the floor from that performance. He was tossing that thing around his back like it was a basketball!
